Our story.
After personally experiencing and witnessing discrimination in the hiring process for jobs, racism within the workplace, and not seeing diversity in many leadership roles at the companies she worked for, Bailey Lawrence wanted to enact change.

Like many others, Bailey wanted to work for a company with similar values. Therefore, she began by creating a Google Chrome extension to help her easily find companies that had strong diversity initiatives and apply to their open jobs. She manually collected data on her favorite companies and coded it into the software. She found how many people of color were listed on the company website in leadership positions, did they have any public sexual misconduct lawsuits, how many women worked there, etc. She then sorted these companies based on this data.

Bailey's friends and co-workers heard about the software and wanted to use it too. She quickly realized that her passion for equality could be transformed into a startup software company. She could also offer diversity consultation to businesses struggling with transparency and inclusion.
Today, Equa is made up of a team of 4 passionate "equalists," preparing to launch the startup in the fall of 2021.
